Over the years, we’ve been asked a lot of questions about NasalCEASE®. Below you'll find the most commonly asked questions about nosebleeds and their answers so that you have a better understanding of the features, benefits and availability of NasalCEASE®.

FAQ

What is NasalCEASE®?

Doctor-recommended NasalCEASE® is a safe and effective, natural based bio-polymer called calcium alginate, designed and manufactured with unique properties for the quick and convenient treatment of nosebleeds. The small nasal packing is easily inserted until it is flush with the base of the
nasal cavity, so you are not walking around with anything hanging out of the nose.
NasalCEASE® is easily removed after thirty minutes.

How does NasalCEASE® work to stop nosebleeds?

As soon as NasalCEASE® comes in contact with blood, it releases calcium, which is a
coagulant that actively aids in quickly stopping the bleeding. NasalCEASE® absorbs the blood
into the packing. As absorption occurs, the sodium in the blood interacts with the bio-polymer,
changing it from dry to moist. As a result, NasalCEASE® doesn't stick to newly formed clots
and is easily removed without tearing clots, which can cause rebleeding.

What is the absorption capacity of NasalCEASE®?

NasalCEASE® packing can absorb up to twenty times its weight. This feature allows the
nosebleed sufferer to insert NasalCEASE® and forget about it until they need to remove thirty
minutes later. As a result, the sufferer can go right back to what they were doing as opposed
to hiding in the bathroom dealing with the bloody mess.

Does NasalCEASE® work for all nosebleeds?

Ninety percent of all nosebleeds are what are called anterior nosebleeds (nosebleeds
occurring in the lower part of the nasal cavity). NasalCEASE® will work for all anterior
nosebleeds regardless of the cause.

What are the specific causes of these anterior nosebleeds?

Recurring nosebleeds have multiple causes, resulting in a year-round problem. NasalCEASE®
will work for all anterior nosebleeds regardless of cause.

Will one NasalCEASE® packing stop all anterior nosebleeds?

Ninety percent of anterior nosebleeds would be categorized as minor to moderate.
One NasalCEASE® packing should work to stop these nosebleeds. Occasionally, frequent
nosebleed sufferers may experience a heavier nosebleed. Upon removal of the NasalCEASE®
packing after thirty minutes, the sufferer may notice that bleeding continues. Inserting a
second NasalCEASE® packing for an additional thirty minutes should bring such a heavy
nosebleed under control.

Why should I consider using NasalCEASE® versus inexpensive tissues?

NasalCEASE® is a quick and convenient way to stop nosebleeds. NasalCEASE® releases
calcium to actively stop the bleeding. It allows you to quickly get back to what you were
doing before the nosebleed started. NasalCEASE® helps to minimize the embarrassment
of the nosebleed, particularly when it occurs outside the privacy of your home. If you choose to keep using tissues, gauze or cotton balls, you will save money. However the ease of stopping the bleeding in a much more convenient, less embarrassing way, which quickly allows you to return to what you were doing will be lost!

Is NasalCEASE® approved by the FDA?

NasalCEASE® is the first FDA approved over-the-counter (OTC) product for the treatment
of nosebleeds.

Is NasalCEASE® contraindicated with any other medication?

NasalCEASE® is a 100% natural based product and has no contraindications. Each year,
more than 2 million boxes are sold worldwide under a variety of brand names. No adverse
reactions have been reported.

Can I use NasalCEASE® during pregnancy?

NasalCEASE® is a 100% natural based product and has no contraindications.

Why hasn’t my doctor recommended NasalCEASE® to help me stop my nosebleeds?

Everyday NasalCEASE® is recommended by more and more health care professionals across
the U.S. as a quick and convenient way to stop nosebleeds. As a relatively new over-the-counter
solution to nosebleeds, we continue to educate healthcare professionals regarding the benefits
of NasalCEASE® through direct marketing, sampling and other promotional efforts. Please let your
doctor know they can request samples for distribution to their patients by contacting us directly.

Where can I purchase NasalCEASE®?

NasalCEASE® is available in all CVS Pharmacies in the "first-aid aisle" next to the band-aids.
It is typically on one of the top five shelves at eye level. Unfortunately, pharmacy and other
store personnel aren't always aware of NasalCEASE® and that is in the "first-aid section".
If you have a problem, ask for the Store Manager or Assistant Manager. Provide them with the
CVS item number for NasalCEASE®, (337868), and ask that they enter the item number into
the handheld shelf scanning gun. This will tell them exactly what shelf NasalCEASE® is on and
how many boxes are on the shelf at that time. Be persistent and don't take no for an answer.
